AI Writing Tools: What They Still Get Wrong

Every vendor sells the upside. These are the failure modes we hit repeatedly across a year of testing, and how to work around them.

Confident wrongness

The most expensive failure mode. Output reads authoritative whether or not the underlying claim is true, so fact-checking cannot be skipped.

Structural sameness

Left alone, most tools produce the same shape of article. Varying section length and opening style is manual work.

The editing tax

Drafting gets faster, editing does not. Budget for the editing pass or the time saving disappears in revisions.

Where they genuinely help

Outlines, first drafts, rewrites and volume work. Treat them as a drafting assistant and the value is real.
